Terry Holzinger, owner and head
trainer of Holzinger Kennels has been professionally raising and training
gun dogs since 1982.
In the spring of 1982, Terry started his dog
training internship with Tom Dokken, owner of Oak Ridge Kennels. He worked
with Tom for two years, branched off on his own, and has been professionally
training ever since. Terry customizes training programs to maximize the full
potential of the gun dog. By working with the natural drive and instincts,
Terry gives the customer a top quality-hunting companion trained to the
level requested. Countless dogs have gone on to acquire placements and
titles at all levels of local, state and national hunt tests and up-land
hunting competitions.
Terry has been a Senior and a Master judge
for AKC and has been involved with AKC and NAHRA since the beginning of the
hunt tests. He was a judging instructor for NSTRA from 1994 until 1999. Terry is
one of the founding members of Lake Country Retriever Club. It was
established in 1985 and is now one of the largest retriever clubs in the
U.S.
Terry enjoys training top quality dogs that
excel at all levels of gundog training. He has been breeding Labrador
Retrievers since 1987. He became involved with a breeding program so other
people can enjoy a top quality dog. The key to getting the best all-around
hunting and family companion is the quality of the genetics carefully bred
into the dog. Many Holzinger Kennel bred dogs return for training with Terry
and this provides first hand knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses, which enhances our breeding program.
Holzinger Kennels is located on 700 acres of
prime hunting and training grounds at the prestigious Minnesota Horse and
Hunt Club in Prior Lake. The Club is located 30 minutes south of
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
